Vintage Mid Century Black Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer (attr.) 1970s

This vintage mid-century modern Wassily lounge chair designed by Marcel Breuer is from the 1970s. This vintage chair features classic quality construction with a continuous polished chrome-plated tubular steel frame and individual black leather hide panels comprising the seat, back and arms, creating the distinctive open construction of the Wassily chair.

Originally designed in 1925 while Breuer was at the Bauhaus, the Model B3, later known as the “Wassily” chair, was among the earliest and most influential uses of tubular steel in modern furniture design. The chair reinterprets the traditional club chair as an open, architectural framework of intersecting lines and suspended planes.
