Postmodern Italian Rosewood and Metal Writing Desk by Abbondinterni, 1970s

This exceptional vintage Italian wood and metal office desk by Abbondinterni Milan was produced in Italy circa 1970. The desk is well-crafted from premium materials and the distinctly postmodern design features clean, minimalist lines with a multi-tiered profile and a floating effect characteristic of Italian space age design of the period.

The desktop surface and drawer cases are made from lacquered rosewood in a rich, dark stain with black trim and supported by a sculptural brushed aluminum framework. The desk case is comprised of three locking drawer sets to each side, all with architectural metal pulls, and the desk includes a removable glass top. This strikingly unique desk is both aesthetic and functional — a true showpiece for residential or professional setting.

CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition overall with wear consistent with age and use. Solid and sturdy. Minor marks, scuffs, edge rubs, nicks and surface scratches to desktop typical of normal use and vintage age. One minor repair to veneer of one edge of desktop with visible seams as per photos. Import labels and sticker remnants in French including an interior “Pierre Rolland” label. Additional label remnant on edge of desktop left for reference, but can be easily removed. Removable glass top possibly a later addition. Minor surface scratches and wear expected with normal use. Two sets of original keys included. Left side drawers lock, but right set does not.
