Mid Century White Tubular Steel Laccio Side Table by Marcel Breuer for Knoll
Ask a Question
This mid century modern rectangular Laccio side or end nesting table was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1924 and manufactured by Knoll circa 2000s. The classic design features a polished chrome tubular steel frame with a white, satin finish laminate top. This smaller side table is designed to nestle with the larger Laccio coffee table size. In 1920s, Marcel Breuer was an apprentice at the Bauhaus when he was inspired to work with tubular steel after learning about the new material used to make bicycle frames. He recognized the potential of this lightweight, sturdy, malleable material to reduce tables and chairs to their elemental lines and by doing so forever altered the future of furniture design. This iconic table is a modern classic and exemplifies the clean, minimalist design of the mid century period. Embossed with Knoll logo and designer’s signature on frame.
