This set of four vintage Bauhaus Mies van der Rohe MR 10 black leather cantilever side chairs are manufactured by Knoll circa 1990. The MR chair was designed by modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1927 as part of his contribution to the Weissenhof exhibit in Stuttgart, Germany and was awarded the Museum of Modern Art Award in 1977 and the Design Center Stuttgart Award in 1978. These iconic Bauhaus chairs feature clean lines, a simple profile and a lack of ornamentation that epitomizes the International Style. The chair’s cantilevered design used chrome-plated tubular steel – an innovative technology at the time – paired with premium leather for the perfect balance of contrasting materials and an intuitively accessible and ergonomic seat. CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Minor wear and aging to leather expected with normal use over time.
